The best dressed salads !!

Did you know that some bottled salad dressings can hurt your healthy diet?

Although, we might be eating more salad for our health, the benefits might be negated with some bottled dressings. (read more)

Here is a list of some of the unhealthy ingredients:

1) Saturated fat 

2) Artificial colors

3) Sodium -rich preservatives

4) Added sugars like high-fructose corn syrup

5) Unhealthy Trans fat

How does it affect us?

If we use more dressing, which often happens –  then calories, sodium, saturated fat and sugars all add up and affect our health goals.

1) Too much saturated fat increases cholesterol

2) Too much sodium affects blood pressure and can increase risk of heart attacks and strokes.

3) Increased sugar can unnecessarily spike our blood sugar. This results in  cravings and also adds inches to our waist.

Healthy Dressing

While eating out, ask the Chef to dress your salad with a healthy, freshly made dressing or choose health conscious restaurants.

Homemade dressing is the best.

I use olive oil, balsamic vinegar, chopped garlic, roasted and ground sesame seeds paste, mixed Italian fresh herbs, lemon and some Himalayan pink salt.

I sometimes add a little salsa sauce to this.
